About This Piece:
This bed is shown in Gnarly Aspen. Gnarly log has extra "scarring," so to speak, causing more blackened patterns and giving more character to the logs. It is also available in natural log. It is finished with a clear catalyzed sealer that is silky smooth.

A high arch headboard (natural log only), jumbo logs, dainty logs, spindle rails, accent rails, fanned spindles, panel head and foot, inlay with a routered or lasered bear or elk scene, a pillow stop, a poster or canopy option (with or without trusses). As well as a built-in bench, drawers underneath, or a
metal frame instead of slats.
It can also come in stained finishes:
Warm Aged Pine, Natural Puritan, Warm English Chestnut, or Cool Walnut.

About the Makers:
This piece was handcrafted in Colorado using the highest grade dead-standing aspen that comes from the upper elevations of the Rocky Mountains. The wood is hand-sorted into natural and gnarly logs. Gnarly logs are rare logs that come from stands of trees where elk herds have wintered and eaten the bark and rubbed the felt off their horns against the saplings. As the trees grew, the chew marks and horn rubs turned into elaborate gnarly configurations. Hand-sorting the logs according to these characteristics allows the craftsmen to offer each piece in a natural log or gnarly log option.
It isn’t just the logs themselves that are given careful consideration by the company. All of the panels are kiln-dried solid aspen wood, which is also sorted into natural or wild grain lumber according to its characteristics. This allows the craftsmen to offer you even more choice in the way your piece will look. The hardware consists of full-extension ball bearing glides and 6-way adjustable hinges. Naturally bent twigs are selected for the handles of each piece.
In harvesting the timbers for your piece, the company works with the forest service to prevent forest fires, promote new growth, and maintain healthy forests to support Colorado’s various industries. The facility is heated using recycled engine oil and powered by solar energy. Scrap wood is donated to local schools for wood projects, donated as firewood, or mulched and combined with sawdust for soil composition.
